Your First Visit

Patient Forms

Upon entering our office, we will request you fill out some paperwork located in the New Patient Center.  This will help us gain information on your health history and current condition.  You may download these forms on our website and bring them with you on your first visit.

Consultation

Dr. Jason S. Crist will then meet with you to discuss some specific questions regarding your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options.  Your first visit is designed for Dr. Crist to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations to determine whether chiropractic care will you meet your goals.  If you cannot be helped within our office, you will be referred to a doctor that will be able to best assist your health needs.

Examination

After a thorough consultation, you will have a chiropractic examination.  The doctor will perform a manual exam of your spine and your individual ranges of motion may be tested.  The exam may also include standard orthopedic, neurologic, postural or physical examinations depending on your condition.  The doctor will then determine if x-rays are necessary to assist in the evaluation of your condition.

X-Ray Studies

Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to get a full evaluation your condition.  Since limited information is available from manual and physical assessments, x-rays may be necessary to further identify spinal misalignments.  They also help rule out more serious conditions.  Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays and can often identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.  If you have current X-Rays from another clinic, please bring them with you on your first visit.  X-Rays are taken at the doctor’s discretion.

Report of Findings

Once the consulation, examination and x-rays are taken, if necessary, the doctor will explain his findings and give you recommendations for treatment.  Nothing in our office will be done without your consent; the choice to undergo chiropractic treatment is ultimately up to you.

Treatment

The type of adjustment and technique will vary according the needs of each individual.  To adjust the affected area, Dr. Crist applies a specifically guided force to the misaligned area.  Realigning your spine will allow your body to restore function and movement, allowing it to express its true health potential. 

The extent to which you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is ultimately up to you, but it is important to remember that patients have different healing times.  Some experience relief right away and others notice changes later.  Healing is dependant on the length of time a patient has had subluxations and the severity of the problem.

Patients will generally be provided with their first treatment at the conclusion of the appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies.  Treatment is interactive with you so you can express any concerns you have about the style of adjustment you will be most comfortable with.
